A field day showcasing efforts to boost maize yields was held on Oct. 10 at a?demonstration farm?of Sinochem Agriculture?MAP (Modern Agriculture Platform) in Qian’an County, Jilin Province. Hosted by Syngenta Group China and co-organized?by Sinochem Agriculture MAP and?Qian’an County, the event highlighted proven practices for achieving high yields and explored ways to increase grain production and farmers’ incomes. Qian’an County is prone to drought in spring?and?it?has long faced challenges in boosting grain production. Since 2022, the local government and Sinochem Agriculture MAP have jointly implemented a program to increase maize yields. By adopting measures such as combining improved seed varieties with suitable cultivation techniques and digital crop management, they have established a replicable and scalable model across one million mu (about 66,667 hectares) of farmland. On-site yield measurements at the event showed that the “Xianda?7388” maize variety grown at the demonstration farm yielded 1,006.19 kilograms per mu, exceeding the 1,000-kilogram threshold. The results underscore the role of agricultural technology in boosting grain yields.?The event also saw the launch of an intelligent decision-support application for irrigation and fertilization independently developed by Sinochem Agriculture MAP.
